Today I'm about to show you photos you've never seen before on my blog. They…
Apartment Tour | The Living Room
To celebrate my one-year anniversary of living in my apartment, I’m offering a room by room apartment tour. First, the living room. Here are 2 photos I took of the apartment while I was looking at it. This is a view from the doorway into the room. Neat windows, partially recessed ceiling. Only 2 outlets in the whole room.
This is the built in storage in the living room. Gorgeous. Some people ask me if I moved that in. Are they crazy? There’s even a little key for the doors, but it doesn’t really work.
This is a shot from before I moved in, while I was preping the place by cleaning and slowing bringing things over.
Here is what the bookshelves look like in between, with my refinished $3 chair and $10 end table in front of that space.
And the wall on the entry door wall. I like wall hangings that have some dimension, and are not all flat pieces, to change up the visual. These pieces are from all over. The small oval stone on the top left is a piece of Welsh stone from Wales. The black circle is actually my Stetson from Texas.
That green board in the middle is the address piece of a box my grandfather sent to his mother while he was stationed in Japan during World War II. In it he shipped a Japanese sword and clothing. The address is neat because it was before there were zip codes, it says Buffalo 11, New York, as in zone 11.
The grid-like piece on the far right is a radiator cover I purchased. I like it’s metal geometric shape. The leaves are from a walk in a local park and the photos are all of people I love. I hadn’t even taken the price tag off the loveseat yet, it was brand new.
Lastly, the wall next to the bookshelves you saw above. This is what it looked like between with my $5 refinished mirror and impromptu storage pieces. Eventually I’ll get some real wood storage to go there, these are from K-Mart, but they are versatile and work well.
Updated May 25, 2010 ~ Of course the space is always changing, here are the most recent photos of the living room, which has also become my office.
My red chair got placed in front of the bookshelves.
And my desk got added to the room to make for a cozy office corner.
I like the cozy corner it creates with the red chair.
This is how I will remember this room. It’s my favorite escape in my apartment.
You creative soul! What’s the significance of “33?” BTW, who’s “the chef?”
Hi Elizabeth,
Those 33 numbers are the originals from the house I grew up in. When we moved out I took them with and replaced them with ones I got at the store (you have to for the fire and police if you take them off). I also have the ones from my grandparents house in a script writing.
The Chef is my boyfriend! I give him creative names as he does to himself when he leaves comments. (The Designer Chef, Le Chef, etc). He thinks he’s funny! But he is a big help with a lot of these posts on home improvement 🙂
Thanks for commenting.
