Hello all. Hope your week is going along nicely.Β The summer is slowly coming to a…
Guess What Room I Decorate Next?
I think that picture pretty much gives it away! Yes, Dan and I are expecting our little one to be here the day before Thanksgiving and we are more than thrilled! I’ve been racking my brain to figure out how to share this with all of you, as some of you know we’ve had a long journey to this point.
Today I’m 21 weeks and all of our doctor visits and tests have been A-OK π
The funny part of this is that you saw pics of the prego me all along! Remember this video for #SwapItLikeItsHot? I saw that and thought about how round I looked. That was taken on June 5th when I was about 15 weeks.
Even before that I snapped this for Instagram in the backyard and realized I was giving you a full on look. This was also at the end of 14 weeks.
And then there was this past weekend at the Haven Conference, when I knew people would know. Like my surfboard? That’s Scottie, Karah, Maria from Better Homes and Gardens and Sabrina.
So now the news is out, let the baby adventure begin! Yes, sometimes I straighten my hair too.
Of course Brittany had to get in on the baby bump action, but NO she is not pregnant. I must provide that disclaimer for her. She gave me the adorable Drill Baby Drill onesie in the first picture. Thanks Brittany!
It’s actually pretty difficult to share this news with so many people. We’ve been trying to tell our family and most of them know, but you all know that I’m don’t often share very personal information about me on this blog. I figure you want to see my big old house and my furniture makeovers, so I just write about that! But maybe you also can welcome in me and Dan and our lives behind the blog.
Getting to this stage in the 2nd trimester is a small miracle for us after we lost our first pregnancy early last year. Having a miscarriage is an unexplainable loss, but I’m getting more comfortable each day knowing that this baby is meant to be and am happy for all the milestones along the way. Here’s some info in case you are wondering about baby Decor Adventures.
Will you find out the gender?
Nope! We had our half way ultrasound last Monday and it was like Simon Says. The technician would tell us to open and close our eyes on command and we were so good, we didn’t peek! The funny part is that we have a CD with all the ultrasound pictures on it, including ones below-the-waist right here in my office, but we won’t peek at that either!
I’ve gotten very positive feedback from telling people we’ll wait. Most people say “Good for You” and then others say they wouldn’t be able NOT to know, they’d have to plan for a nursery.
To be honest, after the journey we’ve had – a healthy and happy baby is all we want. Gender and all the colors kind of become irrelevant, at least to us.
How Are You Feeling?
Good! Thankfully I didn’t get sick in the 1st trimester, although I do need to eat often. If mealtime is here, expect me to be eating! I do feel more energetic now and am already working on projects I’d like to complete before the due date. That includes switching dressers with our master bedroom, and getting new runners for the split staircase.
When Are You Due?
How about this one … the day before Thanksgiving! November 26. We already told our moms to bring some turkey to the hospital. That’s if things are on schedule. My birthday is November 1 and Dan’s is December 16, so we’re going to have a little birthday holiday season going on in our family.
Am I freaking about about how I’ll decorate my home for the holiday? Kind of! Christmas tree up in October? Maybe… π
Will You Decorate a Nursery?
Of course! The funny thing is, I’m planning for the nursery to be what is currently my home office, that I’ve made over and plan to show you ASAP. Then as soon as that is done, I get to take it all apart and create a space for the little one. Talk about projects. There’s dressers filling up the nursery that we are switching around and stuff people have given me piling up in the office. I’ll definitely write about my plans for a baby room and all that fun stuff.
Is there anything else you’d like to know?
Leave a comment and I’ll be happy to answer what I can.
Thanks for letting me share this news with you. I will be posting about the room changes and projects as things progress. Wish us luck for a continued healthy pregnancy and baby!

Hi Jena. Thanks and congrats to you too. Yes, decorating might be very simple this year. It depends on how well we can get around huh?!
