Hello all. Happy short week of work. I hope you have a fantastic Independence Day…
A Closet Full of Lath
Happy Monday all! I’ve missed you so. I took a long weekend mini vacation to visit my sister in Florida. Had lots of fun shopping at stores they don’t have in my area and lounging by the pool. I love the pool.
But now I’m back to show you more progress on our master closet renovation. After we removed the paneling and started on the plaster we finally finished it all.Β Then our closet stood without anything on the walls, oh avert your eyes.

Taking down plaster leaves lots of plaster ridges on the walls and ceiling. Those little things get knocked out by hand. Thanks to The Chef for doing all this fantastic work in our place.

And it leaves lots of dust on the baseboards. It’s made it’s way all over the master bedroom and on the hallway floor too π But I don’t mind at all, I just keep thinking about the fabulous master closet we will have shortly.

If you’ve never seen underneath the walls of an old old house, here is your chance. This is the lath that is behind most plaster walls.

Kind of rustic right? And the closet I had for a few days…

But things are moving along. All you need to start with is one piece of drywall, yahoo.

Hope you all are well and happy. Tell me what you did this past weekend? I bet it wasn’t drywalling π

We were finishing up some projects that have been sitting on the back burner for a while. I’m hoping it’s my true nesting instincts that kicked those into gear and not my usual DIY self!? This baby needs to get out ASAP!
Glad you had a great time in FLA! π I bet the weather was gorgeous!
I love the look of lath! I certainly wouldn’t want to live with it for much longer than a couple weeks, but during a reno, lath makes me think of progress. Of course, drywall over lath means even more progress…
We didn’t do any drywalling, but we did buy some! We have a pretty strip of exposed lath in our bedroom that desperately needs to be patched!
Wow, pretty amazing Jessica! I haven’t seen full lath walls in many years. Looking forward to seeing your new closet.
Over the weekend I did a mural on the wall in our spare bedroom!
