Hello friends. Today I took a day off from work. This is a big deal because I’m the girl who never takes days off. I think the last time I did it was for our honeymoon last September and before that… who knows! I’m a really enjoying some time to do what I want and it turns out I am seeing my house in some different ways. Did you ever stay home when you are usually not and catch the light just so or notice the silence so perfectly?
Here are some photos if our staircase and upstairs that I like to see during the daytime.
We have a split staircase in the house which means there are two sets of seven steps you can go up that meet at a landing and then one set of seven steps that arrives at the second floor. On the bottom left of this photo you can see the other entrance to go up the stairs right before the kitchen.
On the very left of this picture below is the way up from the front foyer, then the way to the second floor and on the far right is the other way up/down that ends up in the side hallway.
Important note: That is the original owners rug. We plan to change it as soon as possible.
This is where you arrive if you come up the stairs from the hallway near the kitchen. We actually use this way more often I think. Otherwise you end up in the front foyer which is closer to the living room, so I try to go that way often, you know, to even things out :-)I plan to hang a mirror on that wall.
This view is turning around the other way looking into the front foyer. Sometimes we race up each side. I win. Most of the time.
This way looks back down the stairs from the upstairs hallway. Wow we have some empty walls in this place.The split stairs were very handy on moving day let me tell you. One person can lift and the other can run around and catch the back end of a dresser or something large. Only item that didn’t make it was
the box spring.
This is looking from my office in the front of the house down the hallway (before the new sconces). That’s our bedroom on the left.
