Holiday Staircase Decorating
Happy Saturday all. Are you enjoying this festive season? Is it snowing by you? The weather is good here, well at least for today. Weather people say a storm is coming tomorrow, so we’ll stock up on milk and bread and stay in if it gets too bad. Which is fine with me, I have plenty to do. Earlier this week you saw my holiday foyer, with my red, silver and white decorations. Today I wanted to show you the holiday staircase decorating that I’ve been working on.
We have this beautiful wood staircase and I couldn’t wait to put garland up there this season. Here’s how it got holiday-ed.
First, I started with just the garland. I tied it onto the railing with navy blue thin ribbon, it seemed to be the least noticeable.
Last year I wired on jingle bells on the garland so they started off the decorating. See them in there?
Then I maneuvered some silver mesh into a bow for each of my four points that were tied to the railing.
After that I glittered it up. These picks were only a dollar each and boy are they glittery. As I was putting them up there the glitter was just raining down off of them. I’ll have to vacuum that up later.
The white bows on top we also made by me. I looped some ribbon together and stapled it to hold. Nothing fancy, just get out your stapler and click – it holds!
To get them on the railing I used paperclips. Again, my tools are very high tech. Paperclips did the trick well. No tying, no gluing, no reaching all the way around the railing to get the bows on, I just paper clipped them to the garland.
The lights went on last only because I forgot to put them on first!
I love having these lights on at night when we’re home. They are so festive.
What do you think of the staircase? {I know I have to put some art up on the wall soon!}
