The Dining Room Project

Happy Monday. Do you sometimes need a weekend from your weekend? I do. I started on a new project these past few days and made lots of progress which sometimes means I need a rest from my days off. Pfew!  I want to share it all with you, let’s start at the beginning.

I’ll call it the dining room project, although it’s really a combination of lots of projects that will add up to a {hopefully} almost complete makeover of the room.

Makeover needed right here.

Dining room
As you might know, the dining room is the one space in the house that we have not touched since we moved in except to paint the ceiling when we did all the rest of them. This room is a small challenge with wooden slats on the walls, a high chair rail but nice windows and shiny wooden floors. Plus a window seat, great molding and lots of potential.

In a few weeks I’ll be hosting my sister’s bridal shower in this room so I figured it was time to give this space the decor it deserves. Nothing like hosting 30 people to get you to get rid of the left over ceiling paint trim decorate right?

There are lots of things that need to be done in the dining room and since I’m a list kind of girl, here it is:

Pick out a wallpaper for in between the wall slats
Order the wall paper
Select a paint color for the top half of the room and paint
Decide if we are painting the ceiling or not
Remove blinds and clean windows
Buy and put up window film
Find fabulous fabric for the window treatments
Make curtains (if I buy fabric) and roman shades and hang them all
Make frames for mirror wall art
Buy frames (or find some) for other wall art I have planned
Decide which color to paint buffet and then paint it
Find new hardware for the buffet
Find lamps and shades for the buffet
Decide on/find other wall art?
Pick out and buy a rug
Get a new chandelier
Other lighting?

This list is pretty long, I should stop adding to it but no doubt I will as the project continues.

Remember, this blank slate can only get better looking.

So far I’ve done about 2 of the 126 items on that list.

What did you get to do this weekend? Make any long lists?
