Recently I've been seeing all types of round mirrors for the home and thought one…
DIY Graphic Vases from a Cutting Machine
Once in a while I see items for sale at popular stores and think how easy it would be to make some of them myself. Every once in a while Target or HomeGoods or another favorite destination has beautiful pieces that I’d love to call mine, and I can. But instead of buying the items, I make them myself! I was inspired by these graphic-like vases I saw at a store and decided to put my Silhouette machine to work and make my own DIY graphic vases.
I did this project as part of the Silhouette Challenge, which is where a bunch of us have taken on the fun task of making something with our Silhouette machines. So stay tuned to the end of this post to see many other home decor projects that my fellow blogger friends have created.
My project is inspired by were these drinking glasses, shown on the Lily for Target Instagram. They made similar candle holders in white and metallics shown here.
If you look at either the vases or candles, they are a glass and printed pattern on the outside right? All I needed to make them is some dollar store glassware, colored vinyl, and my Silhouette machine. And BOOM, DIY Lily for Target candle holders would be mine. Best part of this is that I already had these items so they would be free, exactly the kind of project I like.
I used various designs from the Silhouette store, mostly geometric ones, to get the look of the drinking glasses and candle holders.
Depending on the side of your glass containers, all you have to do is create a new file in your Silhouette software, size it to your container, then cut the vinyl and stick it to your glass.
I love these colors of aqua, gold and black. You can also use the negative space from a cut to put on another candle holder like I did with these gold ones.
Isn’t this just the easiest project there is? And even if you didn’t have any of these supplies, you can get them for very little and in any color too.

Hi Eff,
Thanks. They are super quick to make. I just have to wait for the vinyl to cut out! Thanks for reading my blog.
These are so fun!! And I love that you used the negative design on a different glass to utilize the extra vinyl, they both look great. I actually like yours better than the Lily ones 🙂
Hi Meredith,
Thanks for the sweet comment. I need to make more of these, they were fun to create!
Although I remember the line coming out in Target, I didn’t have much interest in grabbing anything from the collection. That being said, I can’t express how much I LOVE these glasses!! The scalloped one is especially my favorite. You did such an amazing job, and I personally am giddy for any type of “hack” or “DIY knockoff” I can find. Thanks so much for sharing this project!!
Hi Brittany,
Thanks so much for this comment! They are very fun and the best part is that I can make others in different colors or cutouts. Thanks for reading my blog!
