Leave it to me to get a new living room rug just after I show…
DIY Room Deodorizers
My daughter wears cloth diapers. You don’t have to be a mom to know that dirty diapers can get SMELLY. We tried all the different diaper pails that are supposed to keep the odor at bay, but none of them worked. We had to do something different.
Enter baking soda! It’s made to absorb orders for the fridge and is used for all kinds of purposes so why not try it for diapers, right? I wanted to make my own DIY Room Deodorizers and have them give off a nice natural scent too. This was a great opportunity to make my first project with my new essential oils.
If you watched my first Periscope, I had a revelation one day and just decided to bring essential oils into my life. I ordered a starter kit from Young Living and have been learning about all the amazing things they can do since that day a few weeks ago. Here’s how I used them and some basic supplies to make DIY Room Deodorizers. {If you want to order oils for yourself, click here for info}.
Materials
- Small canning jars and rings
- Baking soda
- Burlap
- Scissors
- Essential oils
Instructions
This is the easiest project and it will take you only a few minutes to do.
1. Put a few scoops of baking soda into your canning jar.
2. Drop in 2-5 drops of your favorite essential oil*. For this I used Purification, which eliminates odors and freshen up the air. Other good choices are Lavender, Peppermint or Citrus Fresh.
3. Cut a piece of burlap to fit the top of the jar and screw on the ring to secure it.
That’s it, you’re done!
I made 2 of these, one for Cora’s nursery and one for our closet. To activate the oil, shake up the baking soda every once in a while. These will last a few months and you can change out the baking soda as often as you feel necessary.
