I hope you're have a good time taking a look at my house this week.…
The Front Foyer a Year Later
This week I’m celebrating our one year move-a-versary into our first home by showcasing the rooms we’ve worked on over the past 12 months. Some rooms have made quite the transformation, others not so much. Let’s see how far we’ve come in our first year as homeowners. Will you join me?
Today I’m starting with the front foyer on the first floor, which is the space you walk into when you enter our front door. We have a little four foot by four foot room between two doors, then the foyer.

I’ve since removed these curtains and the rugs, this was even before we painted.

Just for fun, this was the real before picture from the day we looked at the house with the real estate agent 🙂

Since then we:
- Removed {some} wallpaper
- Repaired plaster
- Painted the fireplace
- Removed old curtains
- Hemmed new sheers and put them up
- Painted the entire room
- Decorated a bit
This is actually the room that changes the most often in our house, I’m constantly switching things up on the mantle and in the fireplace. This was my first attempt at decorating the space and it was shown on Better After. That was my first feature, thanks Lindsey!

I’ve decorated it for the fall, Halloween, the holidays, winter, Valentine’s Day and most recently the spring by creating a map wall with architectural elements a la Pottery Barn. Beckie featured this on Knock Off Decor.

One of my favorite parts of this room is the sunburst mirror I made recently. We haven’t had anything hung on that wall until this.

I also love the homasote bulletin board which I change out each season too with things like art, an advent calendar, snowflakes and now it’s currently sporting a flour sack.

And who can forget the mantle which sees the most decorating action in the whole house.

Frequently I redecorate a jute wrapped wreath for the front door.

What do we still need to do to this room?
- Get curtains for the window
- Find a rug that fits the space between the fireplace and tables
- Perhaps hang something permanently above the fireplace, like a mirror?
- I might paint the table that is by the window too, I’m over red although The Chef likes it

Again, here is the foyer before and where we are today. What do you think? More change needed? Any parts you love or would redo? Are you over red as much as I am?

Come back tomorrow for more move-a-versary rooms before and after.
Please put more pics of your vestibule up! I NEED to see that floor tile 🙂
Everything is looking lovely!
