The day is finally here! I finally got my mantle all done this past weekend…
Fur, Feathers and Glitter on the Mantel
Happy Monday all. Did you have a nice weekend? I did, it was warm and fuzzy and I got most of my holiday decorating done. It’s about time I showed you some of the festivities going on around here right?
My first decorating project was the mantle. This year I did simple, sparkly fun.

For the center of the mantle wall I wanted to do something unique. Of course there had to be a wreath up there but not just any wreath, a feather wreath! I had this idea months ago and just could wait to get it up there.

This was made with a Styrofoam wreath form and two feather boas. Fancy! Then I realized I could spell something out with these letters I had. Well I had the J, and bought the Y and painted it to *kind of* match. I’ll show the tutorial on how to make the wreath shortly.

My approach with the mantle was the keep the color scheme simple. So I went with red, white and silver.

On one end are the poster board trees that I made. *Practically free!* Just insert glitter 🙂 They have little fur trim.

And on the other, a small but sparkly holiday village. Who wouldn’t want to live in a house make of glitter? The red trees are from the Dollar Tree.

The stocking hung on the candle holder were a happy accident.

I put them there to move them out of the way when I was putting the pillows on the chair and I love the way the red balances with the chair. Worked out good since I don’t have stocking holders otherwise 🙂

And finally the fireplace is full of fire! This is the most I’ve had in that space since we moved in. Stuff and fire I mean. The wood discs were free from the hubs’ dad who splits wood for a living.

Here is the other side of the room if you’d like to look around. I’ll show you more of the holiday house tour in a little while.

Since this is my first holiday mantle I can already see room for improvements. Maybe a swag under the wood or some more things on top. What do you think?
Did you decorate a mantle or shelf for the holidays? If so I’d love to see it. And speaking of ideas, I’m fashionably late to The Lettered Cottage’s Holiday Home Link Party. Come see all the beautiful mantels there.
And I’m Decking the Halls at Between Naps on the Porch. If you want to see holiday decorating – it’s here!

So cute – we made that wreath last year on Mrs. FIXIT – we adorned a red bow with a vintage brooch – pretty pretty – I love it with the letters!
I used a feather wreath as well, but I love what you did with yours! 😉
