Furniture Facelift

Hello all! Things are progressing well in my office these past few days. I recently did some painting on a chair and ottoman I got at a thrift store for a low $40. I had it professionally cleaned and it has found a home in there during reorganization and probably permanently. I gave it a furniture facelift.

However I was never a huge fan of the wood trim.

And had an update in mind for it so this past week I got to work. I flipped that chair over right in my office and taped it off.

It got primed with shellac-based primer for all surfaces.  I actually bought this primer by mistake. I was going for the oil-based primer but when I got it home I realized it was the wrong kind.

However I’ve used it on a lot of projects so far and it seems to be doing the job.  This primer is pretty thin and dries instantaneously.  Plus it required two coats for each project, which is OK, because it means fewer coats later on of the paint color.

Then I painted the trim with three coats of high gloss white which I’ve never used before but I’m going for a bit ‘o glam. Let’s see if the high gloss will do it.

What do you think? Was the furniture facelift an improvement?
