Welcome to my holiday home tour, where my old house's halls are decked in my…
Holiday Home Tour
The last two weeks around here have been a holiday decorating frenzy, with lots of crafts, stringing lights, and making things, all in preparation for today, my holiday home tour. Not only did I pull out all the stops to make my home a beautiful, welcoming place for the season, but I made a video slideshow just for you. My first!
Welcome to my home, I’m glad you could come see the woodland foyer and metallic mantel, but the blue touches in the living room and the green sparkle in the dining room too. This year I choose to bring a different color to each space, along with holiday shine, I hope you like it.
My home marks the fifth stop on a week-long tour of 30 bloggers who have {virtually} opened their homes all decorated for the holidays. And not only do you get to see some wonderful homes, you get to enter to win a gift card from One Kings Lane, plus a whole bunch of goodies, stay tuned for details below.
I’m going to include a little about each room, but I’ll let you look through the pictures, be sure to let me know which room is your favorite. Now, let’s start the tour!
The Front Foyer
This room’s woodland theme started with the birch tree table runner I made for the dining room this fall. I couldn’t put it away just yet, so it sparked the whole room’s neutral metallic theme. With snowflakes, a reindeer, and a pine cone garland you’ll learn how to make Wednesday at Pretty Handy Girl, the space is warm and cozy for all season. And did you notice the new grass cloth wallpaper? Yes, I put that up in the middle of Christmas decorating.
The white garland is new, something I’d been dying to get. My favorite part of it is the little gold snowflakes tucked between the branches. And the tinsel snowman on the homasote bulletin board will welcome holiday greeting cards.
The Modern Rustic Holiday Mantel
The mantel started with a pine cone garland {learn how to make it Wednesday at Pretty Handy Girl}, and the silver garland I made last year from a failed craft project. I can’t resist feathers, so the new mirror got adorned with a feather boa wreath. The ribbon, felt, washi tape and feather trees are all my own craft projects. I show you how I made them here in a few days.
The Blue Christmas Living Room
Since we have some blue accents in our living room, including the blue velvet ottoman, I decided to bring more in for the holidays. The black shelves are a wonderful place to display seasonal items, and the silver dresser holds blue velvet stockings I’ll show you how to make on Wednesday. I also made an ornament wreath with thrift store ornaments, shown on the windows.
The Green Dining Room
The dining room felt like a good space to bring green accents, with the painted storage cubes, and an otherwise neutral backdrop of grey walls, the space got a bright green feather tree that I made, displayed ornaments, and a hot cocoa station with reindeer dishes for fun.
The sugar cube candle holders I made adorn the white buffet, which got a new painted stenciled runner I made like this gold holiday one, from a curtain and some paint I had on hand.
Our Master Bedroom Christmas Tree
Most people probably don’t put a holiday tree in their bedroom, but we are lucky enough to have the perfect corner. Until we go cut down a real tree for downstairs, this simple one without ornaments provides the perfect holiday glow. Decorated only with lights, gold-starred ribbon from Ikea and snowflakes from the dollar store and Hobby Lobby, it’s bear skin skirt goes with its outdoor theme.
I can’t let you leave the tour without seeing behind the scenes of all this decking the halls can I? Here is the holiday explosion that is happening in the guest room, while everything else looks nice and pretty. You like my pink slippers?
Now you really know what goes on here! Later this week I’ll have more details on how I made some of the crafts and decorations you saw on the touch. Be sure to come back for that.
And here is my first video! Please tell me what you think, I’m new at this and am open to suggestions!
