How to Fix Picture Frames
Earlier this week I wrote about some projects I had done by reusing old picture frames. There are definitely fun things you can do, I’ve even seen people make wreaths out of them, how brilliant.I want to show you some ways you can spice up or fix up frames once you get your hands on some that are less-than-wall-ready. These are all tasks you can do, no experience or expertise required! And they are cheap fixes too. Fixing up a frame can cost less that $5.00.
Now, what to do with your frames.
Spray paint it. When decorating remember that spray paint is your friend, especially with frames. It’s easy and quick to apply and comes in all kinds of colors. You can spray that stuff everywhere, go for it!This baby used to be gold.
Next, wood filler can fix any of those chipped corners you have. Put it on, let it dry, sand it lightly then paint that frame to your heart’s desire. I don’t use this very often but it can help. It’s like Spackle for your frames.
Don’t think you always need glass. I’ve done lots of things with clearance frames that come without glass. My framed jewelry organizer that was just an empty frame that I picked up off the side of the road. Think outside the box ~ literally! And make yourself some 3-D creations.
Look for things with frames that you can re-purpose. If you like the shape of something and it’s a price you are willing to pay, grab that frame and get creative.
This calendar was not even a frame with glass, it was a piece of art.
Once you have some frames and some ideas for what to do with them, come back and I’ll show you how to make those fixer uppers ready for your walls.
I’m using this idea this afternoon. I forgot another appointment last night and said out loud, ” That’s it! I need to make a chalkboard for the kitchen! ” I have some chalk board paint and a big, old frame. I think I’m going to try and white wash the frame. Thanks for inspiring me!
What a great blog! I love your jewelry organizer, and I never thought to make a Oct. 31st sign – great idea! I’ll be on the lookout for a few thrifty frames! Thanks for checking out my blog – your comments made my day!
Lesley – Let me know how your chalkboard comes out, send it over.
