Today I’m participating in the Ultimate Blog Swap. I’m excited to welcome Deb from Just Short of Crazy to Decor Adventures!
Hi, I’m Deb from Just Short of Crazy. My friend told me about these cute soap dispensers during a shopping trip. After I got back home and looked them up I fell in love and immediately made one. I was so excited about making one that I never took the time to document steps.
When I decided to participate in the Ultimate Blog Swap I knew this would be the perfect project. Jessica thought so too and agreed to let me write the tutorial for you. (Thank You Jessica!)
It just takes a few steps and you can make a cute soap dispenser for your home or for a gift. I have seen the jars at local antique markets available for $4-$7 each. Here is How to Make a Mason Jar Soap Dispenser.
It helps to have a cute boy with tools around so that he can drill the hole in the lid. I’m sure I could handle it on my own, but its nice having someone that knows what they are doing and can complete the project in a couple minutes.
Supplies needed:
Drill with attachment to drill hole
Soap dispenser
Mason jar with metal lid
Adhesive
Scissors
If your jar has a glass insert in the lid you will need to break it out of the lid before making this dispenser.
Step One: Dump soap into the mason jar
Step Two: Drill hole in the metal lid
Step Three: Cut the top off the plastic soap dispenser
Cut off larger than you will need
and then trim down so you are left with just the threads.
Step Four: Make sure the plastic insert fits in the mason jar hole.
Step Five: Add adhesive to the inside of the lid around the hole
Step Six: Insert plastic soap dispenser piece, press plastic to adhesive.
Step Seven: Let adhesive dry for at least 4 hours
Step Eight: Screw lid on mason jar and add the pump dispenser…enjoy!
Thanks so much Deb, I think these soap dispensers are excellent for gifts or for yourself!
These are fabulous! Do you think I could find these lids at any place other than an antique store?
@ Becca, check second hand and thrift stores…even yard sales. They should be fairly easy to find. If that fails you can probably find them online.
Deb, now I am in love too!!!!
Thanks so much. The inside of my metal lid always turns to a black slime after awhile any ideas why or how to prevent it?
Thanks
What size paddle bit did you use for drilling the hole?

Hubby did this today!! worked awsome! however we didn’t want to wait hours for glue to dry so we used a low temp hot glue gun to attach to the lid
