When we were buying our new house, it was a cool and rainy March. You…
The Backyard Before
Now that it’s October I can show you the really scary stuff going on around here. The backyard.
I think I mentioned how we’ve been planning {since January} to pretty much completely redo the backyard. It’s a small area since we live in the city, but we are lucky enough to have a garage and driveway and plenty of space for the two of us.
It’s not perfect, but it will be. Like most before pictures these are totally embarrassing, can’t believe this was my backyard for three years, completely awful.
Enter the backyard before, if you dare.
We do have some nice plants, but most of them will get moved. And that falling brick retaining wall and the cement under the beds – out of here.
The highlight of the backyard was the cracking cement sidewalk that didn’t line up to the porch that was build over the old cement steps out of the back door.
We can zoom in for the crumbling cement. Good stuff.
See, sidewalk to nowhere.
Dead grass.
Yes this is my backyard. Shameful.
The sidewalk is cracked too.
There is more cement, in the form of a pad that is next to the back of the house and along the fence.
While that part won’t be coming out we have other plans to cover it.
And then there is the deck. Oh the deck! Read how not to build a deck here.
Here is the garage.
And the dead lawn since it didn’t rain all summer. This before gets better and better doesn’t it?
But all of the above will soon be history. The lawn, getting replanted. The cement, coming out. The brick trim, will become fill. The landscaping, a total overhaul.
The company who came to do the work was awesome and the new backyard, even without a yard or landscaping for now is 1,000 times better than these pictures. I promise.
Coming up soon. This!
It’s going to be amazing, and trust me, when it’s finished you’ll be so glad you have these true blue before photos. Photos don’t lie, and yet it’s so eady to forget just where you started without them!
