Hi friends. Today I'm in Michigan for another work conference (I have 4 this month)…
Lamp Turned Terrarium Craft
A fun little project I did this summer was turn a lamp into a terrarium craft. I’ve seen lots of glass geometric-shaped vases and such and thought they were interesting and cute for plants and set out to make my own.
Look at the perfect lamp I found out thrifting one day. $1.50? Don’t mind if I do.
So I took it all apart. It had a neat door that opened which made it perfect for putting little plants and treasures inside.
I got out my silver Rub n Buff and brushed away. I was afraid of getting it on the glass at first but tested a spot and the paint came off easily with nail polish remover. Have you ever tried using that for your paint projects? Works like a charm on fingers and glass.
Then I had to figure out how to put some items in the bottom of the piece. So I plopped in a silver candle holder. The size was perfect for my project.
Then I filled it with my handy dollar store river rocks, which I use around the house, including on plants.
In went the plants.
I only have these two little air plants for now but will look for more greenery to put in there. I’d love something taller. Any suggestions? My fun little greenhouse is living in the guest room near the south-facing window.
And the door still opens and nothing falls out so I can change things up in there if I want to.
Cute and easy. That’s how I love my projects 🙂

Now that’s a fab idea? Who would’ve thought??? If you can find an air fern, it might give you a little more height… How many layers of rub ‘n buff did you do for smooth coverage? I ended up with a lumpy mess on a little metal dish I did in antique gold!
Very cute, and fun to leave on a table or surface ..
