Lightening Up For Spring

The time has finally come – Spring! It’s been consistently over 40 here and that has me dreaming of the warm sunny days ahead and of lightening up my decor of course.  This past weekend I switched out the pillows in the living room with the new covers I made and made some other changes in there too, come take a tour 🙂

These are the two fabrics I picked. A black and white floral and a green trellis, both from Joanns. My sewing machine is getting some miles on it.

I love how they compliment each other, the black is so sharp against our Creamy Mushroom walls and light tan sofas. And the green is not something I’d ever pick out, I actually don’t think I own another thing that color in our whole house. I love how fresh it is!

These windows look out to the porch and face North, so I try to get lots of pics when it’s sunny. Sneaky I know.

The black and white matches our new zebra ottoman too.  I also added new covers to the side tables.

This is a textured paper I got at a local art supply store. I’ve had it forever and haven’t used it until now. I cut it to fit under the glass on top of the chevron I painted for winter.

I love the textured surface under the glass.

These textured balls are from IKEA. I hope the bowl doesn’t get pushed around with dinner plates and the remote control, which normally take up residence on the coffee table 🙂

Moving over to the window, this straw bowl was a souvenir from our honeymoon in the Bahamas.

Now, don’t blink because you are about to see all of my Easter decorations coming up in just one photo.
Just wrapped eggs. I made these during the Oscars. I needed something to do during all those commercials.

We have huge windows.  With our 9 foot ceilings, and 8 inch moldings, the length from the floor to the top of the window frames is about 89 inches.  That makes it hard to fit store-bought curtains for…

    Living Room Tour

Today I’m about to show you photos you’ve never seen before on my blog. They are just about the most common photos you’d see in any home decor blog, but I’ve been almost too embarrassed to let you see them on here, until now. Welcome to my living room tour! I don’t even know why…

This is my last weekend before I start another semester of classes on Monday so I will be spending it only doing crafts, furniture makeovers and all kinds of decoraty things. If you didn’t know, in my spare time I’m also a Ph.D. student entering my second year of coursework. It’s quite amazing, but yes,…

  • The Winter Blues

Lately I’ve been loving deep blue colors. Maybe it’s winter, maybe it’s trendy, maybe it’s the desperate need I have to bring some color into our living room.  I love the way blue feels in a home, it’s so universal and makes a great neutral or accent color. Sine we moved in last June we’d…
