Happy Thursday all. Are you up for another room tour at my place? This week…
The Living Room a Year Later
I hope you’re have a good time taking a look at my house this week. I’m showing what we’ve done in our home since we just passed a year of living here. It’s move-a-versary as I call it 🙂
Today we’re in the living room. This is a view inside the space when we closed, totally empty and dark. Further ahead is the dining room.

The living area faces North in the front of the house, here are the windows on the end of the room.

Move in day we had this, oh the shame!

Since we moved in we painted it in Creamy Mushroom from Behr, removed old curtains and trimmed and added new sheers; reupholstered an ottoman, got a new couch and love seat and only recently hung something up on the wall.

It looks totally different with some real items in there!

One thing that really surprised me about taking these photos is how much better the room looks than I thought. Do you ever look at the spaces you created and are less than satisfied? I get that way some days, but yesterday I was impressed with these photos and I’m happy about that.
I refinished these end tables a few years ago. The lamps are thrifted, the shades are from Target and the wine box underneath is a paper recycling collector in disguise.

I haven’t actually showed the living room much on here, these pics are quite revealing for me!
If you have seen the room before you’ll notice the one item we’ve actually hung on the walls in here, the map. I’ll show you how we made it soon.

Yes, it’s currently the only thing on the walls in the whole room. I’m slowly getting over my shyness about hanging things up. Am I the only one who has this problem? I’ve got piles of things propped all over, but barely anything nailed up!
I change the pillows out pretty often. These black, white and green ones were made for the spring. I haven’t yet decided if I’ll make any for the summer or just keep these.

This little arrangement on the end table is what summarizes the room for me. A cute wedding pic with the hubs, nice green shades in the globe and the green marble coasters I got in Ireland. Plus I love the texture in the paper under the glass. Yes, that’s art paper on the top, it’s not the table itself.
Oh and the horse! I picked him up at a thrift store and just love his white shiny goodness. Makes me want more white animals around. Ceramic ones of course 🙂

Over by the window are other thrifted pieces, the console table, white dish, cloche and the globe. The basket is from the Bahamas on our honeymoon and the suitcases underneath were my grandfather’s who didn’t want them when he moved so I snatched them up. They are bright turquoise inside.

Since I’m not yet offering tours of the dining room, here’s a glimpse of the pocket doors between the rooms. We love them even though the one on the right tries to escape every once in a while 🙂

The entertainment area is a work in progress. Pay no attention to our 2002 television.
Then there is the zebra ottoman, my pet who acts like a chaise when I want him to.

My future plans for the space include getting some extending rods with panels on the window. I’m thinking swing arm extenders because the span acorss that window is about 14 feet! OK, not really, but it’s long and I’m not sure how a rod would look above the moulding.
We also hope to get a flat screen TV this year as a holiday gift to eachother. That is if it’s in the budget. I’d love to get a console with a hutch, but that’s also a budget thing. Maybe I’ll find one somewhere thrifty. The rug is kind of blah and the coffee table would be more comfy on our feets if it were a ottoman 🙂 All in due time. And of course I need to hang up more items, the walls are totally empty except for the map.
I’m really proud of the space, it’s shaping up quite nicely. I hope you enjoyed move-a-versary this week! If you didn’t get to see the foyer, kitchen or bedroom, tours start… now!
Happy weekend lovelies 🙂
