I realized sometime this year that I don't have many house plants in my life…
My Office, A Space with Potential
My office is in the front of the house which faces North and gets a good amount of light but currently is in sad shape. I’ve paid little attention to it since we moved in last June. Before we got in we refinished the floors on the entire second floor with the exception of the guest room. This included my office. Sanding a whole floor makes a lot of dust!

There also is a fireplace. We have another fireplace in the foyer right below this room.

Last summer I painted the room in Dolphin by Martha Stewart.

Check out this tip from http://www.mrsfixit.com regarding the fireplace: Mix together a quarter cup of powdered dishwasher detergent (like Cascade) and a couple of gallons of warm water. Make sure that you wear rubber gloves because the mix can irritate your skin. This mixture works great for removing soot stains from your brick fireplace. A stiff bristled brush and this solution will help you scrub away the worst of those stains. When the fireplace is clean, be sure to rinse the entire area well.
As she always says: “It’s just that simple!”
What a great room! I love all the windows and light that comes through =)
I saw on Hgtv that the used oven cleaner and a brush to clean up an old fire place. Never tried it myself but on the show it worked like a charm.
You can use Scrubbing Bubbles to clean your brick, just make sure to have the windows open
