I'm on a before kick here at DA, showing you some of the rooms in…
Our First Foyer After
- Has painted over wallpaper {shh, every girl has secrets and I wasn’t the first coat of paint}
- Is the first impression our guests will see when the come in the front door
- Will be a place for taking off shoes and dropping off purses and coats
- And is a fab spot for seasonal decorations with the fireplace and mantle in there
And now, here is the foyer today.
For a while I had this empty side area.
So I put in the Ikea table that used to hold my TV.
The lights are made from a friend, the map in the frame is a fabric sample from JoAnns and the corks are a 5+ year collection. Can you believe that’s all I’ve collected?
I love these leaves in the vase. They are from a store in Portland Oregon. $1 each – pretty!
The fireplace brick was a maroon color but I painted it white.
The top are mostly thrifted items. The shutter is from a salvage store, so is the trophy on the far left.
Mozart and Bach finally found a home too 🙂
Inside the fireplace are some frames. A cute poster I got from a local design firm just after I got engaged and a chalkboard I made. I drew a fire in it 🙂 The place doesn’t work for now so we pretend.
I painted the inside of the fireplace because it was also maroon, but I’m not sure if I should paint the floor brick. What do you think?
Moving over a little we have a sitting area. This was my $6 chair, my first re-upholstery job. I also stained the sewing table which I found on the curb last summer. We’re still working on the window treatments, those were left by the previous owner.
A close up of the top of the sewing table. That group wedding photo is of my grandparents. I’m going to try and recreate it at my wedding in a few weeks.
I still have some finishing touches to the space including getting a rug, new window treatments and a replacement light fixture to the one that is up there. I also will update the decor in here for the seasons.
What do you think? Not so bad for the first “finished” room in our new space right?
With this reveal I’m joining Thrifty Decor Chick‘s Before and After Party. Come take a look at the dozens of fabulous before and afters.

I’m updating this post and entering {my first} project at The CSI Project. This week they are having a Before & After Party – Your Favorite Room and this is certainly the favorite in our new home.

Decor Adventures is on Facebook, Twitter and FeedBurner.
Amazing makeover! The fireplace really stands out now. I love the yellow mirror on top of it too. Really cute. How wonderful to have a fireplace in your foyer!
Thanks Anita. Yea we might put a wood burning stove in some day but until then it’s fun to decorate.
I seriously can’t stand to look at this another second, I must have a foyer! I am just green with envy.
Great job, what an inviting space. Visiting from CSI.
I just found your blog, and I LLOOOOVVVE all the wood in your home! I wish I could have a home like that.
