The day is finally here! I finally got my mantle all done this past weekend…
Our Thanksgiving Mantel Decorations
This year I’ve had so much fun decorating the house for Thanksgiving. I usually get that way for Halloween or Christmas, but something about November has me feeling very cozy. Perhaps because the end of the semester is near and I’m really looking forward to a holiday break, or maybe it’s because I am over the hump of a really busy few months at work. Either way, I had such a great time with the Thanksgiving mantel decorations.
When thinking about our Thanksgiving mantel I knew I wanted to do a few things:
- Keep it neutral
- Add metallics
- Make it warm
I’ve had these frames for a while. I picked them up at a consignment shop, removed the old dated pictures inside, and framed my favorite marble paper for an interesting but natural look. This is the same paper that I used to back the bar bookshelves in the dining room.
This gold arch shaped piece is from a thrift store. I thought it was such a neat element, so I grabbed it.
And the feather wreath is two colors of boas wrapped around a foam circle. Cozy.
I think antlers are such a nice natural element to add to decor. My hubs is wondering why all of a sudden I like them. I don’t know, I just do.
I have another larger set I can’t wait to hang in my office.
Of course pumpkins and pine cones complete the fall look. It wouldn’t be November without them. Here is how to glitter pine cones.
You’ll notice that my craft fail of a light fixture attempt has made its way to the Thanksgiving mantel.
The garland is punched pieces of silver paper sewn together. I simply love it. At first I thought it was a little too New Year’s Eve, but I think it might stay up all winter 🙂
This is my favorite mantel yet. Really I can’t stop looking at it. I think it completely sums up my style. Simple, neutral with a splash of bling, and classy.
Have you done any Thanksgiving decorating?
P.S. Did you see my winter mantel at HGTV.com? I’m slides 9 and 15. It’s in a round up of ways to decorate your holiday mantel, and is my first feature on there!
