Painted Plate Holders Makeover
Welcome to the fall edition of #SwapItLikeItsHot! Where a group of us decided to send an {almost} stranger an item we picked up from the thrift store for them to makeover. All you need is a little creativity and you have yourself something new for your home.
Everyone know what they like to buy at the thrift store, but when someone else buys you something, it’s twice as exciting.
The wonderful blogger I received my items from was Shavonda at A Home Full of Color, who sent me now one but two items. This set of woven paper plate holders and two colors of fabric. And my wheels started turning. I have an idea of what to make with the fabric, but that will be for another project.
First I wanted to start working on the plate holders. I had an idea to paint them in different colors and patterns, and use them an an art installation on the wall. I planned out what colors I would use and got to work taping them off.
They got hung where we had plates on the wall from our housewarming party. I’d been wanting to switch up this wall and these plate holders created a nice global textural look.
Like most craft projects, you can use any color or patterns that work for your decor. Maybe I would even make some for the holidays. I used Meadow Green, gold, bronze, black and white.
Thanks so much to Shavonda for these items! I hope she is proud of my use of color here 🙂
Come back to see what I made with the fabric. And be sure to tour all the swap post to see what everyone made over with thrift store items. There are some outstanding before and afters out there!
See my first swap makeover item here. I made over some trays from Melody at My Passion for Decor. This time I sent my items to Carrie at Making lemonade. She’s a makeover queen, so go see what she made today too.
