Putting the Dining Room Together and a Secret
These days our dining room is the center of the action at our house. With the wallpaper going up and my sister’s wedding items living there, it’s getting lots of attention. The other weekend I finished putting up MOST of the grass cloth, I say most since we ran out of paper of course. Home improvement I tell you, it never goes smoothly! But we had enough up to start to put the room back together.
We finished up this corner so I grabbed the broom and started cleaning up. Am I the only one who still uses a broom – do you all use the Swiffer and those things? I’d personally love a robotic vacuum. First up, empty corner.
It’s been my idea all along to put the not-yet-finished buffet in that space. I think it will fit well in that corner. Step one, move the drawer-less buffet over and place the lamps.
Here is where the secret in this post comes in. Now what kind of secret can I have in my dining room?
A secret floor outlet. It’s one of those old house quirks I guess. We had it fixed when we had the switches put in earlier in the year, and it has a nice brass switch plate.
Perfect for plugging in lamps. That way I don’t have to use the wall outlet and have cords hanging all over.
I love those furniture sliders, do you use them? They are God’s gift to women who need to move furniture all alone I tell you.
Mirror is in place, drawers are back in. Although you notice the doors on the buffet don’t close because the paint made them not fit – have to fix that. And we have a new dining room corner.
I love it in the space. Just like I predicted, it fits perfectly. And the room is coming together slowly but surely. Next up, holiday decorations.
Looks great – are you able to get the balance of your grass cloth… do you have to wait long? I SO envy your floor outlets!!!
And I prefer a broom to the new-age options, but my hubby likes the Swiffer – definitely won’t hold that against him π
As for furniture sliders, can’t live without them – I think they should be part of a First Aid kit!!!
Those lamps are AWESOME!!! π I love that little corner! Aren’t you glad to have it all finally starting to look like a dining room? π
Slightly jealous of your floor plug right now, I’m not gonna lie… Looks great!
Looks great and I know you are so glad to be getting some order going again!! Love the floor outlets! Awesome!
Thank you for your sweet comment. Your dining room looks great! I can’t wait to see how it all comes together!
I’m your newest follower!!
That electrical plug, in the floor is awesome: great quirk for sure π My previous apartment had hardwood floors and I used to use those furniture movers. I couldn’t agree more: they are God’s gift to women, who like to move furniture by themselves. π
I’ve just started following your blog (via Bloglovin’)…can’t wait to read more.
We have floor plugs here too(are you shocked?:)) Love em!
I’m crazy about those wood floors! Amamzing. Your newly styled corner is looking very nice. I can’t wait to see the room completely done.
btw, I still use a broom too!
O.M.G! I am so jealous of your floor outlet!! The buffet looks great!
