Last I left you with the red chair, we were all the way up to…
Reupholster a Chair DIY Red Chair Finished | Chapter 7
Last year I bought a $6 chair from my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It was the first total reupholster project I’d taken on and I’m so happy to say I am finally finished with it. Here is the chair on the day I got it.

ReStore a Treasure – About my trip to the ReStore where I bought the chair
The Chair | Chapter 2 – This was the adventure it selecting the fabric. Clearance!
Chapter 3 – Chapter 3 is when we took all the old fabric off and lost some skin on our fingers too
It Looks Like a Chair | Chapter 4 – Our most recent chapter saw us put on all the batting and the seat, back and arm fabric
Sewing a Cushion, Putting on Sides | The Chair Chapter 5 was about the sides and cushion.
The Last Red Chair Parts | Chapter 6 – Putting on the arm covers and the bottom ticking.
The last step I had to do to the chair was put on the nailhead trim on the back, otherwise the fabric was only stapled on the top and bottom. They don’t seem to sell nail head trim at Joanns anymore so I ordered it online. Sorry about the dark photos, the foyer doesn’t seem to have much light.

Here is what the chair looks like today from the front.

And here it is at home in the foyer.

Here’s one more look at the before and after.

I am beyond impressed looks great! I want to learn how to reupholster and this series may just give me the tools I needed!
Thanks!
You did such a wonderful job on the red chair,
very talented indeed, and I know a lot of hard work! I love it!
Hats off to you! It’s FABULOUS!!!!
Oh My, I need to “STUDY” every step of this chair. It is BEAUTIFUL, you did a WONDERFUL job!!! I have a few chairs “In Need” AND I’ve already bought the fabric BUT I don’t have a clue how to get started, etc… I have confidence I WILL be able to do it, it’s just getting started… Is it REALLY hard??? “You’ve inspired me and I Thank you, AND my Chairs are Thanking you too”!

Wow, great job. That is something I want to learn to do
Wow… you are good! You clearly saw the good bones and potential from the beginning. Love the fabric you chose.
Take care,
Lisa
Nice job Jessica! You, like so many other talented folks out in blogland make it look so easy! I’ve yet to mustard up the courage to tackle it.
Hi! I was looking at how you reupholster this beautiful chair and wanted to read more, but the links above showing the project by chapter don’t seem to be redirecting to the correct URL. I get a forbidden 403 error code when I try to click on them. Any ideas? Thanks!
Hi Katy,
Sorry about that! I updated the links in the post, so if you go to it, they should go to the correct posts about making over the chair.
I hope that helps you!
