After all the busy weeks preparing the show house, it has finally opened. This is…
Show House Carriage House Master Bedroom Before
We’re closing in on the show house opening in about a week and a half and it’s pretty exciting to see a room evolve as each layer gets added. My cousin Tim and I are on this makeover journey together, neither of us had done a show house space before. I’m making over a walk-in closet and he is doing this master bedroom.
Today I wanted to show you the bedroom before. It’s a very large bedroom with tons of potential, not to mention amazing natural light. Mounted TV anyone? No worries, it’s been taken down.
This room is on the second floor of the carriage house on the property of the show house. The main house is about 6600 square feet and the carriage house is probably about 2000. This is the condition of the space when we were allowed to bid on them and develop proposals.
While there’s not as many architectural details as the main house that was built in 1907, this space is an opportunity to add modern touches where they will really work. That is Tim’s plan for the room. He’s bringing in a bed, chair, shelves in the form of empty wooden drawers and pendant lights. This fabric will have a presence, as will a variety of solid and prints for pillows.
There were no floors in this space before yesterday, just the sub floors. So Tim did all the painting (three coats of white) and an accent wall, which I’ll show you tomorrow. He did a fun color-block and it looks really great, so come back to see that.
This is an accurate representation of the color that was on the walls. Light peach that had to go. The trim stayed white, it looks very fresh, especially since I’m so used to the wood trim in my house.
Come back tomorrow to see how to color block a wall and get a new idea for a paint technique for your house. See you then!
