We're closing in on the show house opening in about a week and a half…
Show House Closet Before
Hello friends. Hope you had a nice weekend. We got to spend some time at home but also took Cora out to a few places, like Wegmans, which is a very exciting if you have one where you live, you know. She hasn’t been out much at all, but is getting more used to it, I think. I just love being her mom, she’s such a joy. She had her Instagram debut, did you see it?
Today I wanted to show you the show house closet space that I’m working on. It’s the first time I’ve actually designed a room this way and done a show house, so I’m really honored to be working on it. This is the Junior League of Buffalo’s Decorators Show House, which is open April 25 to May 17.
We started in the place last Tuesday and only get to get in there twice a week for now, but there will be more time in April. Now you can’t say I didn’t warn you these are definitely BEFORE pictures. There’s not even in a floor in it.
This is the master closet on the second floor of the carriage house of the property. The main house is 6K+ square feet although I’m not sure how big the entire carriage house is. There’s a large great room down stairs that Ethan Allen is doing, a kitchen and a bathroom. Upstairs is a master bedroom, bathroom, closet, and second bedroom.
It definitely needs a makeover. The space is about 7×10 feet with 7 1/2′ ceilings. There currently are sets of white wire shelves on each side of the closet, one set of which I’m considering keeping up for budget reasons. I’m doing this space on my own dime, so it will definitely be a DIY on a budget project.
The pink paint is very charming, but if you know me, I don’t do charming. I’ll be showing my plans for the space soon, so you’ll have to guess what I’ll be painting it until then. This shot is actually in the master bedroom that my cousin Tim is doing and is very true to the color.
In the closet is a alcove, kind of closet-within-a-closet. I have other plans for that space than a hanging rod. Perhaps with some accent wall paper too.
I definitely will be hanging wallpaper on one accent wall. I show it on Instagram the other week, it’s from Total Wallcovering and I can’t wait to get it up. This is the view into the bathroom, which we will be turning into an art gallery of sorts. There isn’t a complete makeover happening in the bathroom, so we are sort of masking it for the show house viewing. I should show you the bathroom before too, you’d get a kick out of the little square tub.
This is the view into the bathroom and you can see the master bedroom at the far end. This past week all I got accomplished was removing some of the shelves and spackling the walls.
There is lighting in the space, even if it is track lighting. I’m not 100% sure if it will stay or go, again budget will be a factor. But there are outlets, so I’m considering a hanging pendant that plugs in perhaps.
Next I’ll pick up paint and get started on that. Stay tuned for more updates as things progress. Next up will be the design of what I will be doing in the room. Think black, white and bold!
Follow my updates on the space on Instagram if you’d like to see the behind the scenes.
How exciting! I can’t wait to see your design. Good luck!
Thanks Debbie! We are just getting started on the show house but I am excited about how it will come out. It will definitely be a lot of fun.
I also can’t wait to see what you are going to think of! It’s really exciting! 🙂
