Welcome to my holiday home tour, where my old house's halls are decked in my…
Summer Home Tour
This season I’ve done something in my home that I’ve never done before.
I decorated with color. I mean bright, make-me-smile color. Pinks, greens, coral, the whole deal. This is big!
I’ve tried bringing color into my home before and it just never stuck with me. I’ve added it to walls, pillows and always ended up taking things down just a few weeks later. Most of my rooms are neutrals and texture, which I love. But all of a sudden I have new shades in my home and it’s such a breath of fresh air.
But something is different this summer, which has me trying totally new things in my home and I love it. For the first time, I’m not afraid to take some risks (at least for me) and am loving the results. Maybe it’s the show house closet makeover that I did that has me wanting to bring bright colors into my own home? Maybe it’s my baby girl who has me happier than ever?
If you are coming over from Thistlewood, I’ll let you catch your breath before you look around my place. Isn’t Kari Anne’s home outstanding?! Talk about color. She’s my color idol.
Today I’m sharing my home this season, thanks to Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage, who invited me to be in her annual Summer Tour of Homes and I couldn’t be more glad! Gina is a DIY rock star. I mean the woman has a turquoise deer head in her living room and a giant ice cream cone in her office. And I’m in love with her plexiglass shelves so much I think I might make some myself.
If you’re new here, WELCOME! My husband Dan, my 6-month young baby girl Cora, and I live in a 115-year old Colonial home in the city. It has lots of old house charm, and puts up with me changing up things on its walls all the time 🙂
You can find lots more information about my home in the posts below, but let’s get on the tour.

The Foyer
Old houses come with old fireplaces and even though ours don’t work, they are the perfect place for me to act out my decorating ideas each week season. This is the front foyer in our house. I added the navy wall to this one a while ago and the shelves see a nice rotation of holiday items and my latest thrift store find.
The Living Room
Here is where I really made some changes this season. I hung up the marble framed art, stenciled some pillows, added the coral throw and restyled the ottoman. It’s one of our favorite pieces in the house, so comfy! I’m planning even more changes in here soon. Definitely a new wall color and new art on the other walls.
The bamboo bookshelves are my favorite flea market find ever. Can you believe I got it for only $40? A little navy paint took it from drab to fab and it goes so well with our 9 foot ceilings.
The Dining Room
Since I’m newly in love with color, I’m trying these pillows out in various rooms. Will I keep them on the couch or in the dining room? Maybe I’ll make more in some different colors? I’ll share how I did them soon.
And since I’m doing a reveal of the dining room so I can’t show you too much, except I will share a glimpse of these green curtains that I made for $9. Love that kind of decorating.
My Home Office
Recently I made over my home office. It’s the one place I have made entirely my own and I get to be creative in many ways in there. I stash my sewing supplies (the fabric is taking over and I need more storage), Silhouette materials and a bunch of Cora’s toys since she hangs out with me in there during the day.
Since I added pink and coral and green to the downstairs, I’ll probably bring it upstairs to the bedroom too. And I’ll share Cora’s nursery this summer too, so please come back to see what’s happening here soon.
I’ve really loved sharing my home with you and hope you enjoyed seeing it all! Please keep up with my behind-the-scenes decorating adventures on Facebook, Pinterest, and subscribe to my post HERE.
