I think I'm going to declare February 'Bathroom Month' here. We've been doing bathroom projects…
Picking Out a New Bathroom Floor
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Tarkett NA for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
We are add it again with bathroom renovations. This time we’re upstairs in the main bath that we use every day. You’ve all heard my wishes for this space before – primarily to get a smaller vanity – and guess what? My wishes are coming true! Here is a dream plan I made up for the room.
Numbers 1 and 4 were possible floor options, depending on if we decided to rip out the tile that’s currently there, which would be a big, messy job. Not to mention, we don’t know what we’d find underneath it. There’s always an old house surprise someplace.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see the amazing vanity we got on sale last week. It was exactly the one I wanted (number 4 above), and was a special order somebody never picked up. Too bad for them, great for us!
Since we already have the toilet, my other wish for this space was to replace the floor. In one of my happiest moments as a homeowner, I uncovered the original 1 inch white hexagon tile floor and was ecstatic until I wasn’t… The floor had a large crack across the middle of it and the corners were missing tile all together. They’d been replaced by concrete. Not so pretty.
Since we’ve been trying to figure out what to do about that floor, I’ve been searching for easy options on how to either replace it or cover it {not my first choice, but my husband’s}. Today I get to tell you about Tarkett Flooring, which is a company that sells many flooring products and I get to show you how I picked out a new floor for our forever-long bathroom renovation. Here is how to easily select a new floor for your space.
Find Inspiration
First, visit Tarkett online here. They have a gallery of photos where you can see pictures of the flooring in real homes. It’s actually really fun to look at colors, patterns and types of floors you’d never picture in a space. You can see what a darker floor looks like with white cabinets and what a wood floor looks like in a bedroom.

If you are the type of person that like picking the color of an item first like I do, the the iSelect feature will be for you. The products are organized into six color pallets, so you can choose your favorite and match the kitchen to the dining room and the dining room to the hallway. See the video here. I personally like the Hushed Conversations and Evening Conversations. Any that stand out to you?

Visualize It
Once you find something you love, you can put that floor in a room in your house. Tarkett has a visualizer called RoomVue and I love this feature. It’s like seeing what the product will look like in your home before you buy it. You can select different rooms, change the wall and baseboard colors and save the project to view later. Take a look at the floor I selected for our bathroom! It’s kind of perfect and looks exactly like the options number 4 I dreamed about above! Plus our walls in the bathroom are that light blue-gray color, which you can edit in the RoomVue function.
This is a vinyl sheet that is in the FiberFloor Easy Living collection. It’s grey hexagon tiles, and I loved it so much I actually went to my local retailer and bought it! FiberFloor is very thin, but very comfortable. We’ve used this type of product in a family member’s bathroom renovation, in our basement bathroom and will now use it here. It’s softer than ceramic tile and is allergy free. The roll-out option is perfect for us {although not a requirement of this sponsored post}, plus it was on sale locally and I couldn’t resist it. I think it will work perfectly in the space and will avoid us ripping out a 114 year old floor that we don’t know what’s below.
Here is the floor in person. I can’t believe I found a roll out vinyl that looks exactly like I wanted. Now we get to have the look of hexagon tiles without ripping out a 114 year old floor and dealing with the mess, expense and unknowns of home renovation. You don’t even have to glue this floor down. You order the size you need, it rolls out and the baseboards secure it down.
*Update* Since I’ve had a few people ask about this flooring, here is the information on the sample in the store. It is called Rich Onyx in the Easy Living Collection by Tarkett Flooring.

Hi Jessica,
I love the flooring you picked out; do you know the name of it or have a product number to go by? I would love to use it in my own bathroom!
Thanks again,
Denise
Hi Denise,
I’ll send you an email with the picture of the flooring so you can see the info on it. I hope that helps!
Perfect! Thanks Jessica!
Thank you so much for sharing this!! We are restoring a 1920 duplex and are planning on living in one side / renting out the other. We have a low budget and tigth timeline for our rental but want to keep it classic. Definitely looking into this 🙂
And PS you have a new Instagram follower!
Hi Catherine,
Glad to know this will help you out! We paid less than $2 a square foot for this, which makes it very affordable. I hope you found the flooring near you and thanks for following along on Instagram!
Hello,
I’m glad to have found your blog. We discovered yesterday that we have water under our utility floor and will have to replace our vinyl flooring. I have loved the little hexagonal tiles for flooring, but my husband is opposed. I note the vinyl hexagonal look alike and am wondering if the #1 picture is vinyl and if so, where can we get some – along with # 4? I do prefer #1 if it is vinyl as it looks like the real thing!
Thanks so much.
Hi Ann,
The tile in picture 1 was an example of real tile. The picture 4 was the vinyl tile floor we got. Picture one type of tile can be found in a lot of stores, so I’m sure you can get it if you both decide on tile.
The roll out vinyl sheet flooring had hundreds of patterns, maybe you can find one you like in that too! You an find a local retailer that sells it by this link.
I hope this helps you.
what brand and color of paint did you use?
Hi,
In this bathroom the color is called Flint Smoke by Behr paint, found at Home Depot.
Did your flooring person have to order it? I’m finding shipping to be expensive but would also like to put this in my bathroom.
Hi! how is this flooring holding up after 2 years?
Hi Julie,
The floor is great. It looks the same as when we put it in and I’m very serious about that. This pattern hides dirt a bit so that’s good when we slack on the cleaning, but it has held up well and I still love it.
