Last January I made some ambitious lists. One for projects I wanted to accomplish at…
The Best of 2012 ~ Part One
January
January was when we kick started the dining room makeover which is kind of still in progress. The project includes new grass cloth wallpaper, and new chandelier and other projects I featured later in the year like window shades.
I can’t show you too much, you’ll have to wait for the reveal. Awesome dining room makeovers come to those who wait 🙂
We also got our new Canon Rebel in January so I was snapping away like crazy. The first pictures I took were of this dresser makeover, which was widely featured, thanks to some of you!
P.S. The color is Restless Sea by Behr. Wink wink 😉 I knew you’d want to know.
February
Since it’s cold in February, it’s the perfect time for tips on insulating your home for the winter, like putting some in your chimney to stop the draft.
February is also a perfect time for a trip to the spa. Here I shared inspiration from a place we visited for our anniversary the previous fall. Hmmm, I could use a trip back there.
February was also home to my favorite furniture makeover projects to date, the seven layer silver dresser. It was featured in the local home magazine and was the piece from which I removed wood veneer. That how to is one of my top 5 viewed posts of all time 🙂
That dresser was a project! I glazed it, sanded it, but ultimately I love it more than any other piece in my home to date. It’s still in the living room 🙂
March
In March, we got a new matching granite counter top for the island in the kitchen. It previously was a laminate piece that did not match the rest of the counters when we moved in and I couldn’t wait to get the new piece in to unify the space.
This is part of the kitchen.
I also worked at overcoming my fear of hanging up items on the walls in my home. I’m still working on this!
March is a popular month for home shows. We went to not one, but two. Who wants this in their backyard?
We ended up getting a new backyard, which I will be showing you this summer!
There were some great projects that came out of March too. Get your pin fingers ready, here they are.
I turned a roadside rescue coffee table into an ottoman.
I also redid a laminate cabinet too. Painted laminate I should say. This project was featured by Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick. {A blogger never forgets when she’s featured there ~ am I right or am I right? Thank you Sarah}.
And I showed all you plaster wall dwellers how to hang up items on them. Yes! Success for the plaster peeps. Also one of my most viewed posts.
Who wants to send this lady a manicure!?
April
This month was fun, funny, and fantastic. I presented at my first workshop about furniture makeovers. It was a great time. Here is me jabbering away about safety glasses.
I’ll actually be presenting this February at a local Habitat store too ~ watch for details!
April was home to one of my favorite posts of the year. It wasn’t a how to, it wasn’t a furniture makeover, it was no such informative or interesting project of sorts. Maybe it’s because Jasper was involved.
I just thought it was witty and had a fun time writing it. A totally random post on a totally random day. I guess those are the best ones! {It involved this carpet}.
I found myself following some trends in April. Well, one trend. Keeping calm with the purchase of this poster.
That month you got to see what grad school looks like. It’s fancy I tell ya.
And now that I realize I’m jabbering on here too, come back tomorrow to see the rest of the best of 2012. This post is getting too long!
