Our Wedding Travel Theme
Welcome to my weekly chronicle of my wedding planning and fun. My husband and I got married on September 18th 2010. Catch up on previous posts here.
Sometimes party planning can be a tricky business. What theme do you go with? What colors to use? How do we make our guest feel welcome?
For our special day we wanted something that tied together all of the elements that reflected us and our relationship and a wedding travel theme was just the thing. We could select colors and carry it out in different elements of the day which ended up being really fun.
First it started with our Save the Dates which were a boarding pass. I saw this idea on line and The Chef/hubs/graphic designer extraordinaire made it our own.

Our invitations were passports for our guest to travel to a fun and exotic destination, our wedding!

On both of those homemade pieces I used a compass stamp from a craft store. The stamp was also used for our day-of programs and later our thank you notes.

So guest could find their seats we ordered leather luggage tags for their name cards. They came in a variety of colors and also served as a useful thank you gift for our attendees.
They said:
Guest Name
You’re traveling to
Montreal

Lastly our tables were named for cities we had visited. Guests got their luggage tags and make their way to London, Paris or Rome!

It was so fun to have this travel theme and our guests loved it too. Do you use themes for your parties?
I love, love, love everything about your theme! The luggage tags and naming the tables as cities was SO SMART! 🙂
Such a wonderful idea!! I love it…totally adorable!!!
Where did you find the luggage tags?
Hi Anonymous,
The luggage tags are from Militello’s Luggage at 3400 Main Street Buffalo, NY 14214-1374 (716) 833-1600.
Hope this helps – Jessica
How did you prop the luggage tags up?
Hi Mary,
I’m not sure since I was busy being the bride that day, the event staff set them up! I think they just stood up by the round handle part.
Hi Jessica,
I too love this idea. Did Militello’s Luggage do the tags for you or did you do them yourself? If the latter, how did you do them?
Thanks
Pam
Hi Pam,
We printed the inserts in the luggage tags ourselves. They were the name of the guest and where they were sitting for the night at their table assignment.
Hope this helps!
What does the 8.5×11 sign say? I love this idea
Do you have a template for your Save the Date Boarding Passes?
Hi,
I do not have a template for the boarding pass save the date. They were designed professionally.
How much were your luggage tags?
how much does a luggage tag cost?
