Well happy Thursday to you all. Have I got some pictures for you today! Pics…
Winter Around the House
Happy Weekend readers. Hope you are staying warm and cozy and you’ve got all kinds of fun planned for this wintery day.
Now that it’s almost February (I’m getting a late start I guess) I wanted to share some wintery scenes around our house. After Christmas I was excited to change up some of our decor to make it nice and simple.
I pretty much start by decorating the foyer when the seasons change. It’s a good place to arrange some accessories. Here it is today.

I went very simple on the mantle. Hurricanes and some faux materials that used to be in the tree or vases around the living room.

I love the feathers in the arrangement, can you see them in there?

I made this tree by spray painting branches I found outside and wrapped some lights around it.

New lamp and shade, both thrifted.

The fireplace got some pine cones.

Our window treatments ares slowly but surely getting some modernization. I hemmed these sheers (my first job with my new sewing machine!) and now I’ll look for panels to put up.
The bulletin board also got a winter motif with some snowflakes after the advent calendar at Christmas.

I love this view from the staircase. It’s a good shot of the trim and floors too.

And upstairs in our bedroom I changed out the red snowflake sheets for some brown and cream ticking stripes and a navy duvet. In lieu of a headboard these days we have 10 pillows on the bed 🙂

I love the darker colors in there and the little pillows with the circle pattern were so cute. On clearance of course. How could I resist?
Just taken this morning, this is the view outside our back door. Snow and sunshine!

Do you change up your home any way for the seasons? New bedding, pillows or something else? I love the variety of colors you can use in your home. It really does make a difference in mood. Now, we’re cozy.
Beautiful!
I love how you decorated your mantle! I need to come up with some super-cheap (unemployed) ways to decorate our mantle nicely. I love that your very tall (?) wall behind the mantle does not look empty in spite of shorter things on the mantle and no huge piece of art on that wall. I always feel as if our wall at and above (?) the mantle looks super empty. I am totally wording things wrong, but hopefully you still make sense of what I am trying to say. 🙂
Oh and I meant to say too that I absolutely LOVE the ornate frame you have sitting next to your lamp. I tried to find something similar to it on Amazon but had no luck. Maybe someday I will run across something similar. 🙂
Hi and thanks for the comments.
Gina – Yes I know what you mean about the wall above the mantle, I was just looking for a mirror for there because I think it needs something. But sometimes it’s ok. I guess I’ll see as I change it up!
And the picture frame is from HomeGoods. It was a coppery gold color, I spray painted it.
Thanks for reading!

Hi Jessica, I’ve been searching for a navy duvet myself and haven’t found anything I like. The duvet in your picture is the perfect deep navy! Where did you find it?
Hi Sarah,
Actually I don’t remember but it might have been Target. Hope you find a good one!
